Hospital Privacy Screen Bactiblock

Efficient and Durable Surface Protection

Hospital screens containing antimicrobial Bactiblock ́s technology offer a broad spectrum protection preventing the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi on the surface. The controlled released of the antimicrobial additive from the inside of screen confers both homogeneous and durable protection over time.

What Bactiblock is?

Bactiblock is an antimicrobial additive that incorporates the patented technology, property of NanoBioMatters, and prevents the growth of microorganisms on all surfaces of hospital and healthcare environments. The inhibition of the contaminated inert surfaces, objects and textiles can act as a preventive mechanism.

Bactiblock ́s active ingredient is ionic silver (Ag+). a highly efficient multitarget antimicrobial agent that comes straight from nature and is generally recognized as safe for human contact. To guarantee products safety, BactiBlock ́s technology does not contain nitrogen compounds such as nitrite.

During the production process based on nanotechnology, ionic silver is linked to a carrier ensuring a uniform distribution of the active species on the entire surface and, therefore, a homogeneous protection. Furthermore, nanotechnology allows a silver release in a controlled rate, reducing the amount of silver needed to achieve the desired antimicrobial effect. The optimization of the technology result in a substantial reduction in the cost associated with protection.

Why silver?

Silver is a broadrange antimicrobial agent that has been proven effective against most harmful microorganism present everyday life, such as Escherichia coli, Legionella sp, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Aspergillus niger… Ion silver is a multitarget antimicrobial. Silver prevents microbial growth by interacting with several key mechanisms of microbial cell. Thus, if a particular strain develops resistance to one of these mechanisms, BactiBlock would still be able to attack by others and stop the microbial growth.

How does Bactiblock work?

The mechanism of action is the controlled release of silver ions by leaching caused by humidity, using nanotechnology. Once released, the silver ions inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Microorganisms can not adhere to the surface, so that the formation of biofilms generated by them is prevented.
